Growing Together: Ei Electronics’ Commitment to People and Community

From long-term community partnerships to creating opportunities for employees to grow, Ei Electronics’ roots in the Mid-West extend far beyond its Shannon headquarters.

For more than three decades, Ei Electronics has been part of the fabric of the Mid-West, growing from its Shannon base into a leading Irish manufacturer of home life safety solutions and one of the region’s largest employers.

Today, headquartered in Shannon, Co. Clare, the company employs more than 1,250 people globally. Alongside its continued business growth, Ei Electronics has maintained a strong commitment to supporting the communities in which its employees live and work.

Each year, the company supports more than 100 charities, schools, community groups, sports clubs and arts organisations. Its Corporate Social Responsibility programme focuses on areas including education, community development, health and wellbeing, sport, and arts and culture.

At the heart of this approach is a commitment to giving back to the communities in which Ei Electronics operates, supporting initiatives and building meaningful partnerships that create opportunities and lasting benefits for local people.

“Ei Electronics has grown from its Shannon roots into a major Irish-owned company, but giving back to the community has always been an important part of who we are. As the business continues to grow, we want to use that success to support organisations and initiatives that make a real difference and create lasting benefits for our communities.”

Creating Opportunities and Building partnerships that make a difference

Ei Electronics’ focus on creating opportunities for people to participate and reach their potential is reflected in its support for Special Olympics Ireland. In 2026, the company sponsored 10 Clare athletes taking part in the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games and welcomed the athletes, their families and supporters to its Shannon headquarters to celebrate their achievements.

The visit brought more than 25 guests to the Shannon campus, where athletes and Ei employees took part in a Sports and Skills Experience and had an opportunity to share stories and learn more about the impact Special Olympics has on athletes and their families. The initiative reflected shared values around inclusion, participation and creating opportunities for people to reach their potential.

Closer to home, Ei Electronics is also a funding partner in Clarecare’s new Community Care Centre in Shannon, an important project that will strengthen the range of care and support services available to people in Shannon and the wider area. The new purpose-built centre at Tullyvarraga is being funded by Clarecare alongside Ei Electronics, JP McManus Pro-Am 2022, the Sunflower Charitable Foundation and the Michael Guinee Charitable Foundation.

Construction is progressing well, with the new Community Care Centre expected to be completed and operational by mid-2027. The centre will provide addiction treatment services, family support and a range of services for older people, including home support, social work and day care. It will also include a dedicated community space and a thrift shop, creating a permanent and accessible hub for the local community and marking an important milestone in the delivery of community services in Shannon.

Ei Electronics’ community investment also extends into education, arts and culture. Through its partnership with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the company supports the ICO Schools programme in Limerick, which provides children and young people with free access to music education, including instrumental, songwriting and choral tuition. The programme is designed not only to develop musical ability but also to build skills such as confidence, concentration, teamwork and resilience.

In sport, a multi-year partnership with Clare Camogie supports its County Development Squads, helping to strengthen the development pathway for young players through enhanced coaching, strength and conditioning and professional supports, while reflecting Ei Electronics’ wider commitment to promoting women in sport.

These partnerships represent just part of Ei Electronics’ wider community involvement. Locally, its support extends to organisations and initiatives including Bridge United, Carrigoran House, Shannon Musical Society, Shannon Community Partnership, Wolfe Tones na Sionna, glór, the Lime Tree Theatre, Gaelscoil Mhicil Ciseog and others, reflecting a community programme that spans sport, health and wellbeing, community development, inclusion, and arts and culture.

While each partnership is different, they share a common purpose: to support people and organisations that contribute to stronger, more connected and resilient communities.
