Ei to celebrate 60 years in Shannon with Anniversary Open Day

Ei Electronics will mark 60 years of manufacturing in Shannon and 35 years as a fully Irish-owned company with a special Anniversary Open Day on 17th September 2023. The event invites current and former employees, their families, customers, suppliers, local schools, and the wider community to join the celebration.

Guests will enjoy guided tours of the Ei campus, including the new HQ building opened by Taoiseach Micheál Martin in 2022, and its Centre of Excellence. A tented village will feature food, entertainment, and family activities throughout the afternoon.

Founded as the GE-owned “Emerald Isle” Company in 1963, Ei Electronics became an Irish-owned business following a 1988 management buyout led by current CEO Mick Guinee. Since then, the company has grown into a global leader in fire and home safety products, employing over 1,100 people locally and exporting to 30 countries.

“This milestone is a celebration of resilience, innovation, and the generations of people who built our success,” said Guinee. “We’re proud of our roots in Shannon and remain committed to contributing to this community for years to come.”

The event will also feature a dedicated careers desk, providing visitors with insights into career opportunities at one of Ireland’s top indigenous manufacturers.
