Ei Electronics Champions STEM Education with New UL Science & Engineering Laboratory

Ei Electronics is proud to announce the opening of the Ei Electronics Science & Engineering Laboratory at the University of Limerick (UL), a state-of-the-art facility designed to transform science and engineering education. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the next generation of STEM talent.

Located within UL’s School of Engineering, the laboratory will provide hands-on learning and experimentation opportunities across a wide range of disciplines, including Aeronautical, Biomedical, Civil, Mechanical, Design and Manufacturing, Digital Mechatronics, and Electronic & Computer Engineering.

“We are delighted to support this project,” said Mick Guinee, Ei Electronics Founder and Chairman. “Like UL, Ei Electronics has been embedded in this region for over 40 years. Investing in education and future talent is central to our mission, and this laboratory creates an environment that inspires creativity and innovation.”

Our partnership with UL is longstanding, encompassing support for the Cooperative Education Programme and the recruitment of numerous UL graduates into our Shannon-based operations. This latest contribution builds on initiatives such as the Ei Women in Engineering Scholarship and the provision of essential equipment for students—efforts that ensure aspiring engineers have the resources they need to succeed.

The refurbished laboratory is more than a physical space; it is a catalyst for collaboration between academia and industry, driving excellence in engineering education. By empowering students with cutting-edge facilities, Ei Electronics is helping shape the innovators and problem-solvers of tomorrow.

Representatives from Ei Electronics joined UL leadership, faculty, students, and alumni at the launch event, underscoring our shared vision: advancing science and engineering education for the benefit of the region and beyond.
