Electrical Design Engineer

Ei Electronics is a successful multinational Irish company with a leadership position globally in the design and manufacture of Fire and Carbon Monoxide detection products for the residential sector. Due to our continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Automation team at Ei. The focus of this role will be to assist in the design, development, implementation and validation of control systems for state-of-the-art production assembly equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, specification and development of Control Panels for automated machines
  • Develop wiring schematics, electrical layout drawings and create 3D models of electrical control panels
  • Develop Pneumatic Schematics and layouts for new machines
  • Develop and maintain an accurate electrical BOM for each new machine
  • Manage the electrical build of machines, working closely with suppliers and vendors  
  • Develop and implement electrical upgrades and manage the role out to all equipment
  • Provide technical support to the machine build team throughout the entire project cycle, including design, machine build, debug and commissioning phases
  • Contribute to design reviews with all relevant stakeholders
  • Contribute to risk assessments and lead the commissioning and validation of new and modified control systems
  • Create & maintain all relevant documentation for new & upgraded equipment
  • Responsible for ensuring that project timelines and targets are achieved

Key Skills

  • Experienced in the use of Eplan, Autocad or Solidworks Electrical
  • Knowledge of servo electric and pneumatic motion control systems
  • Have good knowledge and understanding of machine safety requirements
  • Imaginative and creative approach to technical problem solving
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills

Requirements

  • Qualification to level 7 or 8 in Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must have proven experience in a similar role.
