Quality/Reliability/Standards/Approvals

In a product range, designed to ensure safety in the home, the quality and reliability of the products are paramount. All Ei Electronics products are tested and approved to the most stringent standards that apply in each geographic market. In Europe the products are tested and approved to British Standards (B.S.) or European Standards (E.N.). The testing/approvals process is carried out by independent and approved test organisations. Country specific approval authorities such as VdS in Germany, Goedmerk in Netherlands, Varefacta in Scandinavia, and Australian Standards approve Ei Electronics products. Some of these organisations conduct regular audits of the manufacturing process as well as spot-checking products in the marketplace.

The Manufacturing Quality process is approved to International Standard ISO 9000.

The Manufacturing process involves comprehensive testing at several points of the process. All products are 100% tested at the Printed Circuit Board stage (In-circuit Test) and at the final assembled stage where a Functional Test is carried out. Environmental stress testing is also used. In addition, the products have their sensitivity set by calibrating in actual gas or smoke when necessary. All products are individually date-coded and are traceable to the date of manufacture and the manufacturing conditions that prevailed at that time. Quality Assurance checks are carried out on all products at the sub-assembly, final-assembly and packaged stages. Customer Returns are analysed for failure mode and the feedback used to improve the product design and/or manufacturing process.
