When a downlight is fitted into a ceiling and penetrates a loft space, heat loss and condensation can both occur. Loftcap is designed to be the answer. Tested and approved by the Lighting Association, Loftcaps are quick and simple to install and entirely maintenance free. Because they are lightweight (just 350g), they add no significant load on the ceiling but are rigid enough to allow loft insulation to be laid directly over them. Manufactured from inert mineral fibres and organic binders, Loftcaps are specifically designed to resist the formation of any water droplets which could drip into the lamp and wiring. Their durable construction also means they are rot, corrosion and vermin resistant and are both non combustible and non-electrically conductive as a further safety measure. There is no danger of the lamp overheating as Loftcap maintains sufficient air space around the light fitting. EiElectronics says that Loftcap is a uniquely convenient and economical way to meet the needs of both Building Regulations as well as NHBC and other insurers' requirements with a single cover.
