In those instances where the budget will not cover the cost of installing mains powered Carbon Monoxide alarms, the alternative is to install a good quality battery powered alarm.
The 205EN Series alarms use a proven electrochemical cell type sensor which checks CO concentration every 50 seconds. All units are individually calibrated and tested in CO gas in order to ensure accuracy and they’re covered by a lifetime – 5 year guarantee.
As well as being easy to install and maintain, the alarms have a vitally important memory feature which records if CO has been detected whilst the occupier was away. Activated by pressing the test button, 1 flash of the red LED every 2 seconds indicates 150ppm, 2 flashes per second 350ppm.
An easy to use Test/Hush button allows the user to check that the horn and electronics are working to silence nuisance alarms. Additionally, if testing with CO gas is required pressing the test button activates the “Quick CO gas test” feature which reduces the waiting time for testing with CO to approximately 20 seconds. On a large scale testing programme this represents a considerable time and cost saving.

Install the three AA batteries supplied, by sliding the upper cover off. The green, red and amber lights will immediately flash in sequence to show they are working – this is normal
Install the CO Alarm in or near every room that contains a fuel burning appliance, particularly rooms where people spend a lot of time e.g. bedrooms, kitchens and sitting rooms
Install preferably on the ceiling (300mm from walls) in rooms with an appliance. Install between 1m to 3m horizontally from appliance. In rooms remote from the appliance install about 1.5 to 2m above floor level, at breath level
Regularly check that the green power light flashes every 50 seconds. If the unit beeps when the green light flashes replace the batteries. The CO Alarm will not work unless there are good batteries correctly installed in the unit
Test the unit weekly by pressing the Test/Hush Button – the horn will sound and the green light will turn on
Alarm does not work with the Test Button:
Hold button down firmly for at least 5 seconds
Check the batteries are correctly connected
Replace batteries
Alarm beeps every minute:
If the alarm beeps every minute and the green light flashes at the same time, then the batteries are depleted and must be replaced
If the alarm beeps every minute and the amber light flashes at the same time, then the unit is probably defective. Disconnect batteries for 1 minute and re-connect. If problem persists, replace the unit
Alarm sounds for no apparent reason:
Ensure there are no fuel-burning appliances in the vicinity which could be leaking CO gas(e.g. even from next door)
Ensure there are no fumes in the area (e.g. paint, thinners, hair spray, chemical cleaners, aerosol sprays etc)
Ensure there is no outdoor source of CO in the vicinity (e.g. a car with engine running, heavy traffic, heavy air pollution, barbecue fumes etc)
Press the Test/Hush button to silence the alarm
If the unit continues to sound it is possibly defective and should be replaced. Please refer to the use and care manual for instructions
All Lights Flash:
On power up the green, red and amber lights turn on in sequence to show they are working. This is normal
