Applications

This comprehensive range of Smoke and Heat alarms is designed to operate with suitable 12volt control panels and to provide a loud local alarm. Relay contacts (normally open and closed supplied) are available for triggering the panel itself and its associated ancillary products, such as extra loud sirens, magnetic door holders, etc. Additionally, the alarms can be interconnected so that when one senses fire, all the units located throughout the premises sound.

Main Features

Dual ionisation chamber – quick response to fast flaming fires

Supply voltage 10.2 to 14 volts

Power on LED – flashes every 40 seconds

Interconnect up to 12 alarms

Relay Contacts – Volt free with Normally Open and Normally Closed options and rated to 24 Volts/1 amp resistive

High sensitivity – responds to all standard fires

Built in sounder to give a minimum sound output of 85dB(A) at 3m

Test Button simulates smoke – use to check performance at least monthly

5 year guarantee (limited)

Installation

For full Installation and Siting Instructions please refer to the Use and Care Manual

Ideally install in the centre of ceiling at least 300mm(12”) from light fittings. Keep ionisation alarms away from kitchens to prevent nuisance alarms. Interconnect all alarms

Ensure the 12V panel is correctly connected to the alarms

Do not fit actual alarm until all building work is completed to avoid contamination. After checking operation, cover smoke alarm with dust cover until required for use

If a nuisance alarm occurs, fan the alarm vigorously with a newspaper to help clear the sensor

Test Weekly – Press the button for 10 seconds and a red light behind the button or on the cover should flash. Interconnected alarms will also flash

Trouble Shooting

Alarm sounds for no apparent reason:

Identify the alarm source. On interconnected units, the red light under the test button or on the cover will flash rapidly only on the unit which is the source of the alarm

Check for fumes, steam etc. from the kitchen or bathroom. Paint and other fumes can cause nuisance alarms

Fan the unit vigorously with a newspaper to disperse fumes

If the alarm does not stop, disconnect the 12V supply

Interconnected Alarms do not all sound:

Hold test button for 10 seconds after first alarm has sounded to ensure signal is transmitted to all units

Check that the cables have been correctly connected and that the connections are tight

Frequent nuisance Alarms occur:

Close kitchen/bathroom door when in use

Ensure that the alarm is sited at least 6m away from sources of fumes

Contamination from insects, paint or paint fumes may have occured. Clean the alarm

If the problem persists, resiting of the unit should be considered. Alternatively, replace the unit with an Optical unit
